About Dianne.
For more than five decades, Dianne Peach has been a leading voice in Australian ceramics. Introduced to pottery in the mid-1960s, she was part of the second wave of studio potters who shaped the rapidly growing Australian craft movement.
With a mastery of throwing, hand-building, and casting, Dianne has produced both classic and innovative vessel-based forms — functional, decorative, and always meticulously crafted. In recent years, her practice has evolved beyond function, focusing on striking sculptural works that are bold, visually arresting, and entirely unique.
Career & Exhibitions
Dianne has held nine solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows across Australia and internationally, including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, England, and China.
Her work has been acquired by the National Gallery of Australia, most state galleries, and many regional, public, and private collections.
Recognition
In 2004, Dianne was named Queensland’s first “Ceramic Icon” by Crafts Queensland, in recognition of her lifelong contribution to the field.
She is also a Foundation and Life Member of Ceramic Arts Queensland (formerly Fusions, originally Queensland Potters’ Association) and has served on its board on and off for more than 20 years.
From 1985, she spent three years on the Crafts Board of the Australia Council, further influencing the growth and visibility of Australian ceramics nationally.
Advocacy & Leadership
Beyond her studio practice, Dianne has been deeply involved as a teacher, curator, reviewer, judge, and advocate. Her commitment to education continues today through regular semester classes, freelance workshops, and private tuition.
A Lifelong Practice
From functional vessels to sculptural statements, Dianne’s ceramics reflect a life devoted to craft, experimentation, and expression. Each work carries with it her philosophy: to create pieces that are bold, sculptural, and timeless.
